Nicolas Fournel

Fournel has created a number of software programs along with MIDI and algorithmic composition generators and modulators. His many interests include procedural audio for video games, audio features extraction, generative arts, alternative input devices, personal robotics, music composition and sound design, and Japanese language and culture.

One free program we recommend downloading is "Blip," a drum machine on steroids, a sound design program and a performance tool, all at the same time. It continuously scans a grid of 64 x 64 cells which are painted with the typical graphic tools such as pencil, airbrush, line etc... Each row of the grid corresponds to a different instrument. The colors of the cells determine the volume, pan and pitch of the sounds triggered. Learn more here.
