The Current State of Dancecult

"As many know, in Jan-Feb 2013 Dancecult raised just over $4,500 USD
(after fees) in our crowdfunding initiative. We didn't reach the
funding target (and thereby avoid the fees), but these funds are
crucial to our ongoing operations and I sincerely thank all
supporters who have enabled the survival of the journal! There were
90 separate funders and over two dozen donors of materials (perks).
See the honours list.

I am also pleased to announce that Dancecult is in the process of
migrating to a new server at Griffith Centre for Cultural Research
(GCCR), Griffith University, directed by Andy Bennett. This
arrangement is good news for us since the move will reduce our
ongoing costs and allow the journal to focus on key issues of
securing content and funds.

At the same time, there have been a few personnel changes. I am
pleased to announce that Ed Montano has been appointed as Operations
Director and Boti Vitos as Production Editor. These roles were
formerly undertaken by tobias van Veen in his capacity as Managing
Editor, and I welcome both to these positions.

We make a fond farewell to Cato Pulleyblank, stepping down as Arts
Director, and thank her for redesigning our logo, web banner, PDF
layout and promotions.

I'm excited to announce that Alice O'Grady has joined the Dancecult
Editorial Board as From the Floor Editor. The From the Floor section
is a crucial component of Dancecult, representing our magazine
section of the journal, and I welcome her contribution and guidance.

As a result of our recent funding, Dancecult is now registered with
CrossRef and expect to provide all back articles and certainly all
future articles with their own DOI links in the very near future.

On the subject of articles, I welcome submissions of Feature and From
the Floor articles for the Oct 2013 edition of Dancecult, which is an
open edition. If you are seeking to submit an article for possible
inclusion in that edition please submit online at Dancecult before
June 30. For those who don't know, Dancecult section policies, style
guide and submission procedure can all be found here.
If you have any questions regarding submissions please do not
hesitate to contact me.

Stay tuned for our next edition scheduled to be published before the
end of May 2013 on Field Methods in EDMC guest edited by Luis-Manuel
Garcia.

Cheers
