Grammy U Presents: Art of the Crossfade & Civil Rights Radio

SANTA MONICA, Calif., (August 13, 2013) - Grammy University students gathered together at the Red Bull Headquarters, a meeting place for a Google+ Hangout broadcast for Grammy U Summer School, with their hosts DJ/Producer Jay Period and USC professor Josh Kun. This gathering was one of two opportunities for students to learn and grow in their understanding of music in a historical context as well as other landmarks for contemplative reflection. The first, "Art of the Crossfade" included a discussion of identities, cultures, languages, discipline, and communities while using the "Crossfader" as a social aesthetic and political metaphor.

Questlove even decided to join in

The second was, "Civil Rights Radio," a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Dr. King’s “I Have Dream Speech!” with a discussion of music from civil rights to political hip hop in the 90’s to present day immigration.
